An Important Notice from My Heart to Yours!
                                         Please Read!
I have just read information that I wanted to share with you.  Recently, there have been several high profile cases where several adults and a child who were following a strict vegan diet suffered from dangerously low levels of Vitamin A, B12, and B6.  Because of this, I feel that it is important to include in our diet, foods with these nutrients because scientists say that they cannot be obtained solely through vitamins.  Some of the foods high in Vitamin A are egg yolks and shellfish.  My family and I are going to eat eggs that come from farms where the chickens are allowed to live free ("cage-free" does not necessarily mean humane).  Kroger's sells eggs that fit the "humane" category.  We are also going to eat shrimp.  B12, along with folic acid is found in clams, mussels, oysters, and salmon.  We will also include these foods in our diet.  Because it is especially important that children have these nutrients in their diet, I do not deny my granddaughter chicken if she asks for it, although, usually, she does not like meat, and refuses to eat it.  This new approach supports our desire to live at peace with animals as much as is possible, and maintains the dietary requirements necessary for the optimal health of our bodies.
